REINDEER MOSS – 100 % NATURAL RAW MATERIAL
Reindeer moss is beautiful greyish-colored lichen that forms large mats over the ground in boreal and arctic regions around the circumpolar north. It grows on the surface of bare soil or gravel in the enchanting wild nature of northern forests, near the Arctic Circle. It cannot be cultivated. Reindeer moss is an important indicator of air purity.
Moss reacts inherently to changes in air humidity. When the air is dry, moss becomes dry and brittle, needing careful handling. If the air is humid, moss becomes soft and strong, withstanding almost any kind of handling.
The beauty of reindeer moss lies in its multidimensional structure and rounded upper surface. Each sprig of moss is unique; you will not find two that are alike.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND MAINTENANCE – POLARMOSS INTERIOR DESIGN AND POLARMOSS COLORED MOSS PRODUCTS
Polarmoss‘ Interior Design and Colored Moss products have been tested for flammability, sound-absorbency, and emissions into indoor air by VTT Expert Services Ltd. and Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Finland. The results are available in the technical specification files of the different product pages.
Polarmoss’ Interior Design and Colored Moss products are meant for indoor use only and cannot be placed in direct contact with water. The products do not need any special maintenance. If desired, the interior design products can be cleaned gently with the dust brush of a vacuum cleaner.
When the moss is dry, the moss of the products may be touched only with utmost care. The moss dries and breaks easily when the relative humidity of the air is under 40%. At 40% relative humidity the moss gradually starts to soften. Above 40% relative humidity the moss stays soft and tolerates normal touching well. Moss can dry out and soften several times without harm to the product.
The moss can sometimes release color if it is touched immediately after coloring. Placing the moss products in direct sunlight may cause some minor discoloration of the moss over time.
Store the interior design products in a plastic bag. Dispose of the products together with household waste.
The maintenance-free, flame-retarding, and sound-absorbing properties of the moss in our handmade interior design products offer a genuine experience of a soft connection with the natural surroundings of northern forests in the interior spaces of public and private buildings.
